Development Manager – Individual Giving

Position Summary:

Development Manager – Individual Giving will build capacity and secure immediate and future funding for serving more children in the Greater Houston region, with focus on individuals and corporations. Achieve established regional goals for funding

Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities:

Major Gifts

– Qualifying, developing, and maintaining year-round relationships with a portfolio of up to 100 individual gift donors or prospects to grow immediate funding, long term funding and planned gifts.

– Serving as a primary out-the-door fundraiser along with the Vice President of Community Engagement and CEO (when needed), building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity

– Creating individual engagement, stewardship plans and giving goals for each donor based on giving history, relationship and the organization’s knowledge of the donor’s giving potential.

– With assistance from Vice President of Community Engagement and Communications Team, develop Case Statement to be used in donor solicitation meetings.

– Managing bi-weekly Major Gift strategy calls with Vice President of Community Engagement

Planned Giving

– Serve as the point of contact for all planned giving inquiries.

– Create, implement, and maintain the plan to manage planned giving transactions.

– In conjunction with the Development Manager, Marketing and Communications develop planned giving related content to integrate into Greater Houston social media and marketing plans.

Stewardship

– Develop and oversee giving societies, including multi-year gifts, mid-level donors and monthly giving.

– Support the Vice President of Community and the management of the Board of Directors

– Working with the Vice President of Community Engagement and CEO (when needed) to develop unique giving opportunities in the context of current campaigns, and to identify any needed collateral.

– Recruit and steward individual donors by building year-round engagement activities to maximize revenue, build donor loyalty.

– Help to increase market’s donor retention rate of donors

– Set up meetings for Vice President of Community Engagement and CEO (when needed) to focus on strategic stewardship of donors.

Volunteer Development/Management

– Coordinate board and resource development committee members towards fundraising goals and priorities

– Attend and participate in resource development committee meetings and activities, as needed.

– Prepare monthly comprehensive reporting for all the development matters.

– Ensure that all resource development activities and data entry align with best practices and are in accordance with agency policies and procedures, are updated on a regular basis, and ensure growth.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

·     Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, or a related experience required.

·     3+ years of previous demonstrated experience in agency operations, fund development, sales or marketing preferred.

·     Thorough knowledge of the non-profit setting, project planning, organizational skills, and prospect research strongly preferred.

·     Demonstrated experience in establishing and executing successful recruitment strategies and developing partners through networking.

·     Effective, experienced, and confident public speaker.

·     Proven success in engaging clients, customers, stakeholders, partners, and volunteers covering a wide breadth of sophistication from community representatives to C-suite executives.

·     Proven facilitation, negotiation and closing skills.

·     Proficient in MSWord, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

·     Availability and flexibility to travel throughout the agency’s service area and to participate in recruitment activities when necessary, including early weekday morning and evening hours and occasional weekends.

·     Willingness to work within culturally diverse environments.
